More Evidence that Big Company Managers Don't Know Squat
There's a blog I read every so often, Evolving Excellence. Sometimes he gets on right-wing politics and I don't like it. But mostly he does a good job of pounding on big company management lack of smarts and courage. In that I think he's right.
Here's his latest rant against Whirlpool. There' a Whirlpool plant near here (in Clyde, Ohio) that's supposed to be a model of lean methods so perhaps Whirlpool managers aren't unmitigated goofballs. But GM has (had) successful examples of lean and employee involvement, as well. It just didn't have managers with the intelligence or courage to deploy those practices company-wide.
While you're there, read the comment signed by Bob. It's about the fifth one down. Very enlightening.
